Schools that have decided to not take up the new Sophos Anti-virus contract should by now have installed a new Anti-virus product. The current Sophos Licenses expired on the 10th June 2019.
Schools that have not bought the new Sophos contract must remove the Sophos Anti-virus from the school’s desktops, laptops and servers. Microsoft will end its support for the Windows 7 operating system on 14 January 2020. This means that automatic updates that protect your computer will no longer be available. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to Windows 10 before January 2020 to benefit from all the security and updates that are released to a fully supported operating system.
Schools ICT has been hard at work negotiating a great new deal with Sophos for Anti-Virus protection for North Yorkshire schools. The current contract runs out on the 10th June 2019 and we want to make sure that schools have protection against malicious threats. This offer is open to all our customers, whether you are an existing Sophos user or a school that would be interested in swapping to Sophos as their Threat Protection Software.
This new three-year contract is costed in a different way and the prices are based on the number of devices in your school, not pupil numbers as per the previous contract. Each Microsoft Windows school device or Apple Mac will need to be included in the upgrade so we are contacting you to gather essential background information in order to ensure your school gets an accurate quote.
As you may be aware the submission of Proficiency in English, Pupil Nationality and Country of Birth are no longer required for School Census purposes.
Consequently, DfE guidance is that schools must no longer request this information from parents, or retain the data within their system, for the purpose of transmitting to the DfE via the school census.
We have been advised that some schools have been told that our Schools ICT team are no longer supporting websites for schools in North Yorkshire.
Please be assured that this is not the case and our team continues to both design websites for new and existing customers and provide support with all aspects of website design, hosting and maintenance.
