Urgent Battery Safety Recall & Replacement Program
On the 14th June 2016 HP initiated a battery safety recall and replacement for cetain notebook computer batteries as they have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard. The affected batteries were shipped with specific HP or Compaq Notebooks between 2013 and 2015 and may also have been supplied as purchased accessories or warranty replacements. This is a worldwide issue affecting notebook batteries regardless of where they were purchased.
If you have purchased a HP or Compaq notebook or a replacement battery, or have received a replacement battery through your notebooks warranty between 2013 and 2015 Schools ICT advise that you act now to avoid any potential risk.
Please perform the following steps to validate if your notebook battery is affected:
- Go to the HP Battery Recall website at: http://www.HP.com/go/batteryprogram2016 to validate your notebook batteries.
- If the validation process indicates that a battery is affected, you should cease use of the affected battery immediately, remove it from the notebook, and order a replacement at no cost, on the HP Battery Recall website at: http://www.HP.com/go/batteryprogram2016.
