As you may be aware the submission of Proficiency in English, Pupil Nationality and Country of Birth are no longer required for School Census purposes.
Consequently, DfE guidance is that schools must no longer request this information from parents, or retain the data within their system, for the purpose of transmitting to the DfE via the school census.
Should a school decide to continue to collect, process or retain this data for their own purposes locally, then it is important that, as data controllers in their own right, they identify a lawful basis for this processing in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Because of these changes Capita SIMS have now released three patches to delete the data no longer collected by the DfE:
- Patch 24423 – Deletes all records for Proficiency in English information for all past, present and future students. Where a student has multiple proficiency entries, the patch will remove all instances of this.
- Patch 24433 - Deletes the National Identity for all past, present and future students.
- Patch 24372 - Deletes the Country of Birth and where present the Nationality for all past, present and future students.
